A Decoupage Table Nightmare

February 5, 2018

I found this sofa/entry table at The Goodwill for $12! It was a decoupage nightmare. The top was in decent shape with only a poly over the pine wood, but the table and drawers were covered in a decoupage nightmare on top of black paint. I used a combination of Krud Kutter (Home Depot) and TSP (Home Depot) along with a scraper to get the decoupage off.

After removing the decoupage, I sanded the whole piece to remove the old poly off the top and prepare the bottom for paint.

I decided to stain the top with Varathane Black Cherry and do 2 coats of Satin Poly.

I then painted the bottom with 2 coats of Annie Sloan Emperors Silk and dark wax. It turned out beautiful and sold in 1 week!

 Happy DIY'ing!!!
